About Us

About us

Bright Minds Home Childcare is a culturally rich early learning program based in Seattle, offering a warm, home-based environment where children are respected, supported, and inspired to grow. Our licensed program values each child’s unique background and uses play-based learning to foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

In our multilingual setting, where English, Arabic, and Somali are spoken, children experience a true sense of belonging. At Bright Minds, we celebrate identity, build connections, and nurture every child’s journey to shine.

Our Mission and Values

My mission is simple: to provide children with a space that feels like home. A place where they can be themselves, try new things, and feel truly supported—socially, emotionally, and developmentally.
  • Respect for each child’s background and identity
  • Hands-on learning through play and exploration
  • Strong, open relationships with families
  • Consistency, kindness, and connection
  • Culturally inclusive care rooted in love

I believe learning happens naturally when children feel safe, heard, and loved. That’s what we aim for every single day.

Meet the Founder – Kawthar Al Bakri

Kawthar Al Bakri

My name is Kawthar, and I started Bright Minds because I truly love working with children—and I know how hard it is to find care that feels like home.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Washington, and over 12 years of experience working with young children. But even more than that, I’m a mother. I understand what it means to want the best for your child. That’s why every part of my program is built with intention, love, and respect.

I’m also trilingual—English, Arabic, and Somali—and it’s important to me that families feel welcomed in the language and culture they’re most comfortable with. At Bright Minds, your child’s identity matters.
